Former MP Cadet Benjamin Buturo Extends Aid to Families Hit by Devastating Hailstorm in Rubirizi District

The villages of Buhingo III and Kyankwazi in Rumuri Parish, Kichwamba Subcounty, Rubirizi District were left reeling after a destructive hailstorm tore through the area, laying waste to acres of family gardens. The storm, which impacted over 170 households, left many families facing an uncertain future as their crops were decimated, threatening their food security and livelihoods.

In response to this disaster, Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, the former MP for Bunyaruguru Constituency (2011-2016), stepped forward to support the affected families. Demonstrating his continued commitment to the people he once served, Cadet Buturo delivered 860 kilograms of maize flour to the stricken communities. This timely aid will help sustain these families as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

“This is a clear sign that Cadet Buturo remains a leader who truly cares about his people,” said Philio Katungye, the yet to be confirmed spokesperson for Cadet’s political camp.

“He promised to stand by them through every struggle, and he has kept that promise, even though he is no longer in office. As he prepares to seek re-election in 2026, we ask the community to remember his dedication and to stand with him for better service delivery in the future,” he added.

Cadet Buturo has made his intentions clear to reclaim his seat in the 2026 elections, currently held by Hon. John Twesigye Ntamuhiira, who has defeated Cadet in the last two election cycles (2016 and 2021).

The aid delivered by Cadet Buturo has not only provided immediate relief but has also reignited discussions within the community about leadership and responsibility.

“As the 2026 elections approach, the people of Buhingo III and Kyankwazi will be reflecting on which leader truly stands with them in times of need. Despite the political rivalry, it is Cadet Buturo who has been the first to respond to this crisis, while we are still awaiting on support from the Ntamuhiira camp,” said Natukunda-one of the community members that received support.
